Our Mission

Our mission is to strengthen the ties between post-secondary music programs and their local communities, using music to engage college students in educational programs that emphasize social change, bridge access and equity gaps in the arts, and close opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds. We do this through 3 pillars: OpporTUNEity Music Connections, OpporTUNEity Community Connections, and OpporTUNEity Records.

Music Connections

Through OpporTUNEity Music Connections, we offer music classes for incarcerated adults, including songwriting and beginner guitar, piano, and percussion. Students perform concerts for family, friends and jail staff after each session.

Community Connections

OpporTUNEity Community Connections works to prevent the school-to-prison pipeline by offering music programs in underserved areas to empower youth. We also assist individuals post-incarceration for successful reintegration into society.

OpporTUNEity Records

OpporTUNEity Records strives to strengthen humanity through song, supporting our overall mission by financially backing community work and assisting returning citizens and recovering addicts in producing music to reduce recidivism.

Our main goal is to stop the cycle of people going from school to prison through music-based education in jails and youth programs in underserved areas. Additionally, we provide music classes after prison to support individuals in reintegrating into society. Our vision involves establishing a network of music programs at colleges across the country tailored for students from low-income backgrounds. Through collaborations with correctional facilities, we focus on teaching songwriting to address systemic inequalities. Our overarching objective is to enhance social mobility, promote diversity within music programs, and foster community cohesion by bridging individuals from various backgrounds and elevating the caliber of students in our college music initiatives. Ultimately, this initiative benefits everyone involved.
